As I understand right now Blogshow renders images in a list if a device is not supported and you have the slideshow option turned on. Wouldnt it be much better if you could render a html5 based slideshow or gallery? Just like they do with slideshowpro if a device is not supported (http://wiki.slideshowpro.net/SSPdir/UG-SlideshowPublishing). Perpaps you could even render a javascript based slideshow? I know the guys at Galleria has an awesome java-component which would be nice to have in Blogshow. Think it would be easy for you to implement the code to render blogshow output to that component. Look here: http://galleria.aino.se/
Bottom line. More rendering options. Not just a row of images as fallback.
Just my suggestion. Keep it up. Blogshow is very good already!

Of course this suggestion goes for ALL products that uses the mobile fallback such as the Flaunt Slideshow etc.
@johan -- have you seen our new site's album rendering in non-flash? if not -- whip out your handy ipad and cruise over here: http://intothedarkroom.com/demos/en/sites/mint/?/page/76b3/jetset/
what are you're thoughts? would something like this be a fundamentally better user experience for non-flash? or would it simply pacify the initial "must look like flash slideshow" instinct?
have you had any complaints? i image someone on an ipad/mobile/non-flash looking at a what-was-suppossed-to-be-flash slideshow wouldn't even know the difference. and the question is: is a vertical tap'n drag experience (the way it is now) a simpler and better experience than if we ajaxed/html5'd the heck out of it?
Now we're talking. I have so far tried it on my iPhone and yes it does look much better but I would love to see it presented full-frame and with easy to use touch controls (including swipe) to make it fundamentally better. So, intially there is some kind of slideshow mobile poster, when the user clicks on it (play slideshow), the slideshow is presented full-frame as mentioned, and then also some kind of escape key that would take the user back to the orginal site navigation. Full-frame, black backgound and touch controls (including swipe) is key here to really make this look sexy on ipones/ipads etc.
No complaints but my experience is that photographers and also their customers want things to look pretty especially when using Ipads and Iphones. I hear what you are saying, sometimes less is more, and yes perhaps redneck-joe will never no the difference but again I dont think redneck-joe would even consider hiring a photographer let alone somenone with a website.
Keep it up and nice to see that you are working on it.

Would this change allow the pinterest pinlet to see the images for pinning purposes? As it is now I love how the show looks and functions except the images don't show up for pinning.
The pinterest button seems to be useless with blogshow images. Any solutions?
Jason and Cory,
We looked into this issue and it seems to be a problem with the Pinterest button itself. Our slideshow uses flash and javascript but has the proper backup method of including the images in a <noscript> tag. This tag allows those clients that don't have javascript/flash to still see the images (like search engines). The Pin It button in this case doesn't seem to be able to read <noscript> tags, which in all honesty, it should be doing. It should be noted that if you choose to embed the BlogShow set as images instead of the slideshow it will in fact work.
If you feel this is an important thing for the Pin It button to be able to do I would recommend contacting Pinterest and making it known that their users want this corrected.
I hope that answers your question!
