Maybe I'm a bit thick, but some of the features on the back end of things are not very intuitive for me. For example, in Flaunt, I've uploaded a background asset and set it to fill, but it doesn't show up in the slideshows or the wall/home page. What is it for then? It doesn't specify in the Help section either. So a little more direction would be helpful! Instead it's more trial and error, which I don't really want to spend time on. I'm assuming that at least some of your customers are visual learners, being photographers and all, so how-to videos would be awesome! Thanks.

I agree...I'm spending time as well doing the trial and error on my site because the back end is not very intuitive and Help section is lacking.
Agreed. It would be helpful for every single thing to be explained. Time consuming? Maybe. But I am very new to this & have spent about a month trying to figure it out & still don't really know what I'm doing, & don't really have the time to guess on everything. It should be explained as if you are explaining it to someone who literally has no idea what you are talking about.
Me too!
I'll agree here too. It's taken me quite a bit of guess work to figure out my Clove website, but I think I have it figured. But the blogsite, that's another matter. I've hours with it just trying to figure out basic things, but no hope. And the documentation is so minimal as to be negligent and certainly not deserving of the investment made. We are photographers, and the target market is photographers. We are not web designers. So, after paying a whack of cash for the template, I'm now going to a graphic designer and web designer who will hopefully be able to figure it out.... at a considerable cost to me, I'm sure!
I agree, I would pay more to get better support and help with the site. I dont know what the hell I am doing, and I have paid more for other sites that have given me much better step by steps
Thanks everyone for your suggestions...it helps a lot. We are currently revamping our documentation to add more details and would like your feedback. For some of the products we have created a step by step guide and a comprehensive article as well. You can see some of the initial advancements in pages like:
Flaunt quickstart guide
Flaunt Comprehensive guide
For websites, we created a combination instructional/comprehensive guide. You can see one of the new guides here:
Vanilla website guide
Please take a look and let us know what you think.
Just a follow up to Michael's comment. We have now completed the revamp of the documentation for the sites. We have consolidated many different pages onto one and add a ton more detail. Let us know what you think.
Where can we find this info? Specifically for the RUE site??
Each product, blogs/blogsites, websites, Vend, etc. all have their own sections for information.
Websites are here: http://support.intothedarkroom.com/forums/20071567-select-your-website-template
Blogs and blogsites are here: http://support.intothedarkroom.com/categories/12133-blogs
Vend is here: http://support.intothedarkroom.com/categories/12135-vend-photo-cart
Guys - any better documentation on VEGA? The information posted on the help pages in minimal to the extreme and I think I'd have to spend weeks and weeks to develop a product that ProPhoto is providing out of the box. Please advise.
I've noted this before and continue to agree; a video demo would be way easier and it'd help to go through each item and who (visually show) what is does - what you can do with it - options available. There was a lot of trial and error before I sort of understood what was going on. And I have the full suite of things - Thyme, RUE, Flaunt, VEND. I spent a lot of time learning the product and came from a joomla environment so I have a decent level of understanding a CMS but seriously - video/screen video tutorials would be key as most of us are visually oriented.
hey everyone -- we're currently actively working on this. right now, it's part of our youtube channel here:

we're trying to best decide how to integrate it alongside the current documentation. we're on it!
